My Feeling after becoming 60+

Well due to certain unavoidable reason, I could not connect up. However, on 4^th of April when I Cross 60 and became 61 the first thing I thought that I should give myself something which obviously the dream for everyone.

Well on that day I gifted myself the ‘Mercedes Benz Car’. When I took delivery,               I remembered the way back 1976-77 when I started my career I wanted to buy a bike,    I had just joined TATAs as Trainee, I approached my Father, well he had capacity to buy for me, but he said something which obviously came shock at that time, but afterwards I realized that statement was a Million Dollar one. 

The statement what he gave was ‘Son, now onwards anything you want to earn and gift yourself (Don’t ask) have this philosophy in life. He saw me disappointed so he said one thing I can do it for you I will get you a Bank loan and I will be the Guarantor, while I can pay for the bike, but I will not you should feel of getting through your own effort, so 4^th of April 2015 I gifted myself the Mercedes. I really worked hard to earn and gift myself.  I always felt that advice of my Father was the real teaching and till today I am practicing even after 60 by playing the second innings with Full Heart and Energy.

If you practice this you feel so proud about yourself that whatever you got is your own through your own effort. This is a kind of Spirituality we should practice, this requires High Degree of Self Discipline and Understanding your own level of Competence, Confidence as well as Ability to Deliver.

I always felt that God has made every human being same. We only try to classify them to be Intelligent, Average and Poor. If you have true Determination and Focus in life with clarity, the entire forces in the Universe will support you to achieve your goal and this is also can be called as a Work Place Spirituality. If you try to split the word Spirituality it becomes Spirit and Ritual, so any act or anything we do in life should be done by Right Spirit, Intention in a Ritual manner, that means in a systematic manner then success will follow you. Systematic means to plan and execute, anything we do in our life whether Socially, Professionally, if we adapt the above approach success will follow and we do not have to chase the success. Success only comes to the person when it sees that this person deserves to have it. There is no point blaming fate and others.

So if anyone wants to be the best then earn it with right spirit, you will be known as true spiritual person that is the meaning of Spirituality. I have understood not making noise by going to temple and other activities, this does not mean I don’t go to temple, but even we want to see the God we should not beg we should only request God to give you strength to earn it.

So let us resolve that every year we would gift ourselves to our desire by earning.

Trip to Goa

Becoming Senior Citizen and also becoming Grand Father is a very nostalgic feeling. My Grand Son was in Goa and obviously I went to Goa and I always felt that I am strong enough to hold my feeling, but somewhere God has created such bondage that my Grand Son pulled me to Goa and the trip was very enriching and a new learning of life.

I also had an opportunity to meet one of my old friend whom I met after 40 years. He happens to be the IG of Police. When I met him we discussed about our past and some of the learning I had with my Father was narrated by him which made me very emotional. He said that my Father was not only Father for Ramesh and my Brother and he was Father to all and he was the man who believed in forgiving. 

Honestly, I learnt this from my Father and during my career many times my Colleagues used to say that how come you forgive a person, who has back stabbed you. I always used to reply to them that this is Law of Karma, in the past there might have been certain conflict in relationship which has resultant into the present behavior by him. You may get angry and shout but never harm someone. The Philosophy taught to me by my Father was as a HR person the first Thumb rule you should have is never take a job of anyone because if you dismiss anyone behind him 4 people are there i.e. his Family and his Parents. Virtually you are kicking on so many people stomach, so if you are true HR try to rehabilitate him and change him.

Today most of the Industries is going through the issues wherein we try to exhibit our power to satisfy our ego and never try to look at the issue in a positive manner. It has to be accepted the fact that people are manipulating and trying to take advantage, but we should not get influenced by their behavior or so to say even understanding he is trying to manipulate, counsel him then leave him like that because God only decides the future of the people and it is their destiny what they bring for themselves.

May be all this are philosophical but in reality it happens many times. Manager feels depressed and frustrated by the behavior of others and when they feel they are helpless they take the course of Newton Third Law, “Action with Reaction”. If we avoid to have such reactions and work out a strategy to make other person realize by adopting positive discipline approach, most of the IR issues in the Industry can be avoided and the Manager of today can remain young even at the age of 60. They have to take the course are :

i.                   To be a good Listener

ii.                 To be more Proactive

iii.              To be a good emphasizer

iv.              Then To be a good solution provider

Hence Understand Yourself and Understand Others, to make your life More Peaceful and Beautiful.

Well I challenged my Senior

After joining we used to have regular review meetings on Saturdays wherein the big boss and other Seniors used to be present and we were the Junior most. While Saturday Review Meetings used to be tough for all, it was quite informative and educative. 

In one of the meetings, the Head of Personnel of one of the Coal Mines openly challenged that no one could manage his Mines, wherein more than 4000 employees were working and it is a difficult Mine. He challenged in the open meeting whether anyone could accept his challenge.

I was the Junior most full of zest and as usual I raised my hand and I told him, I accept the challenge. Everyone were shocked and laughed, but I said that “I meant it. I would like to take this challenge.” My big boss, I don’t know what he felt, after few days, suddenly he gave the charge of that Mine to me.

The day when I took charge, it was obviously very challenging and I used to come to office at 8.45 A.M., whereas office time was at 9.00 A.M. To my surprise, I found the office staff entering the office at 9.30 A.M., 9.45 A.M., 10.00 A.M.,  I called one senior most person who was about 55 years of age and asked him that why all the people were coming late. 

He stared at my face and then said in the past Mr. ‘A’ came and left, Mr. ‘B’ came and left, Mr. ‘C’ came and left, no one could touch us, you are too young to handle us. This reply came as a jolt, but immediately I responded to him stating that ‘A’ came ‘B’ came ‘C’ came & left, but now Ramesh has come & he will not leave and you might have to leave the company if you don’t fall into the discipline. He was shocked and looked at my face on hearing this reply, then I asked him to leave the room & go and sit in his seat.

  

After some time there was a big noise in the Office and I was told that all the staff had come out of the office and stood outside the gate shouting against me and told that I had insulted the Senior most person.
